The truth could not be further, however, as Jaiden is keenly interested in anyone he comes in contact with, but is cautious about who he lets become too familiar. He is friendly and courteous when interacting with strangers when he needs to be.For those he deems trustworthy and a friend, there is no length he will not go to in ensuring they are safe in his presence. He warms quickly to those he likes, treating them as a brother or sister and deeming them family. He will never turn away a soul in need, regardless of their affiliations. While he is a guarded sort, he cannot ignore the suffering of any who ail or require assistance, giving aid to those who require it.

Additional Features

Jaiden is a man whose muscular physique is sculpted from many years of hard work on his farmland as well as prior years of military service. His eyes are a rich green, darker on the outside and becoming lighter toward the center. His left eye has a startling, pale green spot on the outer rim of the iris that upsets the dark ring. His brown hair has the faintest hint of red undertones and shines red in bright light. He has a shorn beard that he often stylizes when he shaves. He has a gold stud piercing just under his lower lip, and another in his left ear. He sometimes wears a ring piercing in his nose, but because it gets in the way of his work, he often only wears such a piercing if he is not busy on his farm.A deep scar cuts into his left cheek, running from his ear to his chin, making it the most prominent of the numerous scars he has obtained from his military years. He has a myriad of tattoos from his early years as well, including a dragon on his right arm that takes up his entire bicep and most of his right chest. He also has a Daggerfall Covenant tattoo on his left shoulder, but it is now obscured by another tattoo of a wolf that he has used in an attempt to cover it.

Detailed History

Jaiden is the third youngest son born to Elyon and Sareah of House Hasrose of High Isle. Raised in the pressure-filled world of high Breton society, Jaiden spent his younger years learning etiquette, law, horsemanship, and swordsmanship. With two elder brothers, Christopher and Milo, in line to inherit the family fortune before him, Jaiden had initially been slated to own a modest estate on his family land.

Everything changed when Jaiden began to show a strong aptitude for magic. With his elder brothers lacking any arcane skills, Elyon turned all of his attention on Jaiden, quickly advancing him to the favored son. This, of course, caused a fierce resentment in Christopher and Milo, but Jaiden did not much care during his youth, for he had his father’s sole attention. At eight years old, Jaiden was given private tutoring lessons by the best mages money could buy, and he soon proved to be a supremely gifted conjurer, outpacing his masters within a few short years.By the time he was ten years of age, Jaiden was sent to study at the Mages Guilds in Daggerfall, where he, again, outpaced his mentors. He eventually was sent to the Mages Guild in Wayrest, where his mastery of Conjuration, and later, Destruction did not go unnoticed. At the age of sixteen, his prodigious conjuration and destruction gifts had caught the eye of the king's battlemages, and he began a rigorous and unforgiving era of training to become a battlemage himself. It was at this time that his childhood was left solidly behind, forced into the life of an adult at such a tender age, with expectations of his elders ever-present and looming over him. By eighteen, Jaiden was taken away from Wayrest and sent to train with the best battlemages in Cyrodiil and was thrown into his first conflict under a military banner to test his abilities, where he excelled and impressed his commanding officers, cementing his role as a soldier.

When Jaiden was twenty-three, the Three Banners War broke out in Cyrodiil, and he was approached with the offer to serve in the military for the glory of the Daggerfall Covenant. Jaiden was eager to accept and enlisted with little hesitation. He was sent to the front in Cyrodiil, wholly unprepared for what awaited him.For two years, Jaiden fought for the Covenant, surviving the hardships and horrors of war from both mortal and immortal enemies. His division was not known for their mercy, taking what they needed or wanted from local villages they came across while in the Heartland. In one such village, they became surrounded by Aldmeri Dominion soldiers and were forced to completely overtake the town in order to defend against the onslaught.

Out of desperation, Jaiden’s commanding officer approached him about an uncomfortable solution to their problems. He proposed that Jaiden summon more powerful daedra than he was used to in an effort to intimidate and overrun their adversaries, but Jaiden was apprehensive. He argued against the tactic, stating that even he had limits to his magic. He finally agreed when Aldmeri forces cut off his division’s only escape route. The daedra Jaiden summoned were more powerful and horrifying than anything he had ever before attempted, and while things seemed to go well at first, he began to lose control. The daedra eventually broke free of his command, and turned on not just the Aldmeri soldiers, but the town and the Covenant soldiers as well, resulting in a horrific slaughter on all sides.Injured and near death, Jaiden was the only survivor of his entire division. It was mere luck that passing Covenant troops happened to come looking through the wreckage and found him barely alive, but comatose. Unable to identify him, he was shipped back to High Isle to be cared for by the Society of the Steadfast in hopes that he would recover.Jaiden awoke weeks later, suffering from shell shock and wracked with guilt for the destruction his magic had caused. When his identity was revealed, Jaiden further received news that his mother had passed away the year prior, an event that left him utterly shattered. Unable to admit what truly happened to his division and the innocents on account of his magic, Jaiden never gave a formal statement on the events of that fateful day.

A year later, Jaiden was released to his family with an honorable discharge, but Hasrose Hall was foreign and cold around him. The light that his mother brought was gone, his brothers hated him, and his father pressured him to return to the service. Unable to cope, Jaiden finally left home and made for the mainland, leaving his family behind and swearing never to use magic again to atone for the blood on his hands.Jaiden purchased a run-down farm in Glenumbra, and without any experience beyond what he had learned in the military, began to rebuild it. He struggled to learn the art of farming and animal husbandry, but learn, he did. He is considered a loner by most, but his home is open as a medical ward for any in need, continuing to strive for redemption by healing the sick with medical knowledge attained while in the service.

Hooks

Society of the Steadfast | Almost all of Jaiden's potions and medical supplies are donated to the Society of the Steadfast, and his home is often open to any injured soldiers sent his way. He spends any free time aiding the Society where he can.

Physician & Alchemist - Expert | A good field physician, practiced in treating a wide variety of ailments and injuries from his time in the military. Alchemy is a secondary passion, as it goes hand in hand with healing and medicine.

Animal Husbandry and Farming - Adept | Jaiden rears many animals on his farm, including sheep, pigs, horses, chickens, and even rabbits. Many of these animals are raised for slaughter, but he does breed and break mount animals such as horses and even dire wolves.

Hunter and Tracker - Adept | Jaiden loves the outdoors and particularly enjoys hunting the wilds around his farmstead. He also hunts to protect his livestock or his current crop. His hunting wolf often accompanies him when he ventures into the woods.

Conjuration Mage - Expert | Can summon and command all but the most advanced of daedra. Would have been a master if he had continued his studies.

Letters From Mother

My dearest Jaiden,Not a day goes by in which thoughts of you do not find their way to me. I hope you are well in Daggerfall, and that your studies have gone smoothly.I was pleased to hear from your new Conjuration master last week, in which she said that your abilities were advanced beyond any pupil she has ever trained before. Your father has done nothing but boast of your talents to all of his friends. He is so proud of you. We both are. I knew you were destined for greatness. Haven’t I always said it? My precious son.I hope, however, that you do not let the praise and ease of learning overshadow your generous nature. It is easy to fall to pride, my son. I do not wish to see the tender kindness of my youngest child tainted by the need for attention. The only approval you ever need is that of your own. What others say or think of you has no bearing beyond that which you believe of yourself. If you remember your own self-worth, and who you are, that is what will grant you the greatest success. You will be happy to know that Christopher and Milo have asked of you. I know you mentioned you did not believe they would think much of you after your departure, but I can assure you that they have inquired of your well-being. Christopher can be blunt, especially when he is jealous, but I know that deep down, he loves you, Jaiden. I ask that you be patient with one another. The suddenness of your magic has yielded unexpected fruits, and is, indeed, a blessing, and I pray that Christopher and Milo realize in time that they are no less loved for not having gifts such as yours. Give them time and space, and I believe they will eventually come around.Have patience, and be kind, always, my son. Never forget these virtues.I long to hear your voice and hold you in my arms again. I look forward to your future visits, and know that you walk with my affection every day.All my love, now and forever,Mother

Rumors

Common

Glenumbra (Daggerfall) | "Jaiden is always looking for farmhands to help him out at Snow Lily Farmstead. If you're looking for work, you should head that way. He's just east outside of the city in the woods, there. I can mark it on your map."

Glenumbra (Daggerfall) | "Heard these herbs came from Snow Lily Farmstead. They're always so fresh and lovely to look at. The farmer isn't so bad on the eyes either, if you catch my drift..."

Glenumbra (Daggerfall) | "It's a wonder that Snow Lily Farmstead is doing as well as it is. They say that man showed up one day without a lick of experience, but it seems to be doing all right. Walked by yesterday and saw the fields in full bloom."

Uncommon

Glenumbra (Daggerfall) | "I heard that Jaiden fellow, you know, the farmer from Snow Lily Farmstead, was seen hanging up a poster saying he was going to be gone for a fortnight. He's gone so often, I'm surprised his farm hasn't run itself into the ground. I reckon he has people watching over it, but I'm not sure who. He hires all kinds of folk, you know."

Glenumbra (Daggerfall) | "Folk are saying the road into Daggerfall from Snow Lily Farmstead is clear of bandits now. It's hard to imagine that just a few years ago, no one could take that route in without being set upon by highwaymen. It's so odd to think they've all just up and disappeared. I wonder what sent them packing?"

Glenumbra (Daggerfall) | "Saw more injured soldiers being brought to Snow Lily Farmstead. I hear Jaiden works with the Society of the Steadfast from High Isle. Takes in the wounded and tends to them. I wonder how a humble farmer got connections like that? I know he's a good physician. Maybe that's it."

Rare

Glenumbra (Daggerfall) | "Whoever heard of a farmer being good with a blade? Hoes, axes, and pitchforks, sure, but a sword? Bandits tried to jump me on the road into Daggerfall, but Jaiden came out of nowhere and fought 'em off. Took one out with his bare hands, then grabbed one of their dropped swords and started swinging. Chopped an arm clean off one! The others ran for the hills. Craziest part was, he didn't stay around long enough for me to thank him. Just dropped the sword and walked off like nothing happened."

High Isle (Gonfalon Bay) | "Christopher Hasrose has raised the reward bounty for whoever can find his missing brother. Twenty-thousand gold for his return to Hasrose Estate. Said something about his brother having something that belongs to him. A black rose or whatever. Seems excessive to put a bounty like that on someone for a silly flower, but, then again, Christopher's always been excessive."

High Isle (Gonfalon Bay) | "It's a shame that Lord Elyon Hasrose passed away without ever finding his runaway son. I'd die of embarrassment myself if my most gifted son left home without a word. Disgraceful! I'll be the first to say it: this may be the end of House Hasrose. The eldest son, Chrisopher, has been running that estate into the ground since his father's death, and he's spending a fortune on women, booze, and ridiculous bounties he's put out for Jaiden. I swear, he's gone mad. It would be a damned shame to see that House fall, but, if it does, I'll be first in line for the estate auction!"
